New York Medicaid Fraud, Waste and Abuse Engagement Sessions Announced

The New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (“OMIG”) announced March 30 it will host provider engagement forums in Albany, Rochester and New York City seeking comments and recommendations from health care providers on OMIG’s efforts to prevent and detect fraud, waste and abuse in the Medicaid Program, and to recover improperly expended funds (overpayments).

OMIG’s announcement includes an Input and Recommendations Survey interested providers can use to provide input prior to the sessions. It is unclear whether OMIG will address survey responses during the forums.

The three sessions are scheduled for:

  • April 18, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to Noon - Albany – Empire State Plaza
  • May 10, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to Noon – Rochester – Monroe Community College, Rochester
  • May 24, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. to Noon – NYC – OMIG’s Office at 90 Church Street, New York
