Florida AG Moody Recovers Over $20 Million From Fraudulent Mover
Following a one-week trial, the office of Florida AG Ashley Moody obtained over $20 million in judgments and penalties and a lifetime industry ban against a network of eight related moving companies and their owner, Ohad Guzi, for violations of the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act, the Florida Moving Act, the Interstate Transportation Code and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations.

New York AG James Recovers Over $36 Million for Gift Card Fraud
New York AG Letitia James reached a settlement with global retailer H&M Hennes & Mauritz, L.P. and whistleblower William S. French to resolve allegations that H&M improperly retained unused gift card balances that should have been transferred to the New York State Abandoned Property Fund, and falsely claimed that the funds had been transferred out of state, in violation of the state’s Abandoned Property Law (APL) and False Claims Act.

AG Election Update
In a May 24 run-off election, incumbent Ken Paxton, a Republican, has defeated land commissioner George P. Bush by a margin of 67.9% to 32.1%. Former ACLU attorney Rochelle Garza won the Democratic run-off against Joe Jaworski by a margin of 62.8% to 37.2%. Paxton and Garza will face off in the statewide AG election in November.
