Employers throughout California are scrambling to understand and comply with Cal/OSHA’s sweeping new COVID-19 prevention rule, which was enacted on an emergency basis and went into effect on November 30. The regulation requires businesses with California employees to implement a written COVID-19 prevention plan that addresses a host of specific issues, including requirements regarding screening, testing, and training employees; providing face coverings and PPE; reporting and documenting COVID-19 outbreaks in the workplace; and excluding from the workplace—and sometimes paying—infected or exposed employees.
In this upcoming webinar, our attorneys will cover what California employers need to know to comply with the new rule, including:
- Understanding the rule’s requirements and how they apply to your business;
- Developing an effective written COVID-19 prevention plan;
- Investigating, responding to, and notifying employees of COVID-19 cases in the workplace;
- Employers’ obligations to screen employees, ensure proper sanitation and social distancing, and provide face coverings and PPE;
- Determining whether an employee who tests positive or is quarantined is entitled to “exclusion pay”;
- Steps which must be taken when an outbreak occurs in your workplace; and
- The risk of Cal/OSHA enforcement and penalties for non-compliance
