  • Florida AG Ashley Moody brought lawsuits against two solar energy companies, SetUp My Solar, Inc. and Vision Solar FL, LLC, and related individuals for allegedly violating the state’s consumer protection law and home solicitation sale law by misleading consumers about the installation, pricing, and incentives associated with solar panel systems.
  • According to the complaints, SetUp My Solar and Vision Solar FL allegedly misrepresented to consumers the savings the solar equipment would produce, the quality of the equipment they would receive, and the tax rebates they would receive; and the companies incompletely or improperly installed equipment, damaging consumers’ homes and failing to provide remediation or reimbursement, among other allegations.
  • The complaints seek restitution, civil penalties, injunctive relief, and attorneys’ fees and costs, among other relief.
  • Separately, Rhode Island AG Peter Neronha seeks to amend a complaint alleging similar conduct against solar energy company Smart Green Solar, LLC and its owner.
