  • Missouri AG Eric Schmitt sued residential solar energy company Power Home Solar, LLC over allegations that Power Home used false promises, misrepresentation, and omissions, among other things, in the marketing, sales, installation, and service of its residential solar power systems in violation of the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act.
  • The complaint alleges, among other things, that Power Home sales representatives systematically misled Missouri consumers concerning the capabilities of its systems, including the amount of energy the systems would generate. The complaint further alleges that the company failed to properly install its systems causing them to not often work at all, knowingly used defective components that prevented its system from functioning properly, and utilized a component that was known to spontaneously overheat and risk catching fire.
  • The complaint seeks injunctive relief, restitution, civil penalties, and investigation costs.
