The Bank of England has written to the CEOs of all regulated U.K. financial market infrastructures notifying them that they are no longer expected to discuss prospective shareholder distributions with the BoE.

By a Dear CEO letter in June 2020, the BoE had asked FMIs to discuss intended distributions with the BoE in light of the additional risks and potential operational demands of COVID-19. The BoE's latest letter marks an end to that policy and means FMIs can return to the approach to dividend payments that was in place prior to COVID-19.
