Yesterday, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services issued an alert directing employers to continue using the Form I-9 currently available on I-9 Central, even after the August 31, 2019 expiration date has passed.

The agency advised it would provide employers with updated information about a new version of the Form I-9 soon. The Form I-9 must be used by employers to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States. Employers with questions about Form I-9 compliance are encouraged to consult with an immigration attorney in light of a recent surge in enforcement by Homeland Security Investigations.
