Back in March, Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced an unprecedented package of measures, including a Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS). On 5 November 2020, the chancellor announced a further extension to the furlough scheme until March 2021. This extension applies to all 4 nations of the UK. This represents a major change in policy from the government as the CJRS was due to close on 31 October 2020.

Detailed guidance on the furlough extension has not been published as of 6 November and there are a number of grey areas. See related documents for our FAQs summarising the furlough scheme as it stands. Our article will be updated in due course.
