Path Inc is a social networking application for storing and sharing photos, journal entries, and locations on mobile devices. The application was launched in November of 2010 by founders Shawn Fanning and David Morin, formerly of Facebook. Path purposefully limits the number of friends a user can share information with in an attempt to encourage more meaningful social interaction. On February 1, 2013, Path agreed to settle charges with the Federal Trade Commission for violations of the FTC Act and COPPA. The FTC charged that Path deceived users by collecting their personal information without their knowledge or consent.
